Socio-economic data for November and the first 11 months of 2021

Updated: Mar 28, 2022

Enterprise registration status

In November, the number of newly registered firms climbed significantly over the previous month in terms of both the number of enterprises (up 44.6 percent), registered capital (up 38 percent), and staff count (up 30.2 percent ). When compared to the previous month, the number of re-operated businesses climbed by 15.2 percent. After more than a month of implementing Resolution 128/NQ-CP, the findings revealed a recovery of production and economic operations.

In general, the country had 105.6 thousand newly registered enterprises with a total registered capital of 1,454.2 trillion VND and a total number of registered employees of 784.2 thousand employees in the first 11 months of this year, a 15% decrease in the number of enterprises, a 22.6 percent decrease in the number of registered capital, and a 19.2 percent decrease in the number of employees compared to the same period last year. In 11 months, the average registered capital of a newly founded firm was 13.8 billion VND, down 8.9 percent from the same period previous year.

Forestry

The freshly focused planted forests in November 2021 were anticipated to be 31.9 thousand hectares, a 2.2 percent increase over the same month previous year. In general, the newly concentrated planted forest area was estimated at 238.3 thousand hectares in the first eleven months of 2021, up 2.5 percent over the same period last year; the number of scattered forest trees reached 88.1 million trees, up 2.6 percent; timber production increased by nearly 16.2 million m3, up 4.6 percent; and firewood production was 17.2 million, down 1.1 percent.

In November 2021, the damaged forest area[1] was 63 hectares, down 38 percent from the same period the previous year, comprising the burnt forest area of 27.5 hectares, up 2.1 percent; and the chopped and deforested forest area was 35.5 ha, down 52.5 percent. In the first eleven months of 2021, the damaged forest area was 2,015 hectares, up 37.1 percent from the same period last year, including 1,229 hectares of burnt forest, which was 1.9 times larger; the chopped and deforested forest area was 786 hectares, down 4.6 percent.

The official order defining the scheme, which is only available in Vietnamese, mentions that planting would be focused in metropolitan regions, industrial zones, export-processing zones, and transportation corridors, but does not elaborate. It begins by recognizing the impact of climate change and extreme weather events on people and property, and it describes "dramatic forest expansion" as both an urgent effort and a long-term strategic task.

To be sure, a shortage of green space is a long-standing issue in Vietnam's metropolitan centers. The administration of Ho Chi Minh City, the country's economic core, for example, claims that the city has just 0.55 square meters (6 square feet) of public park per citizen, compared to 30 m2 (326 ft2) per person in Singapore. After years of urban tree loss owing to infrastructure construction, city officials have already begun planting trees under the scheme.

Fishery

The total amount of fish caught in November was anticipated to be 761.8 thousand tons, a 3.2 percent increase over the same month previous year. Aquaculture output was anticipated to be 468.7 thousand tons in the month, up 3.9 percent from the same period previous year; catch fishery production was estimated to be 293.1 thousand tons, up 2.2 percent. Hanoi, Nov 11 (Prensa Latina) Vietnamese exports of fisheries products amounted to 7.1 billion dollars from January to October, an increase of 2.4 percent, the Vietnam AThe United States remained the top consumer of Vietnamese fishery goods, accounting for about one-fifth of total sales, with 1.7 billion dollars, followed by Japan and China, with 1.080 million dollars and 872 million dollars, respectively.

Fishery is one of the 25 product categories that generate more than one billion dollars in income for the country each year, but the sector's immediate objective is to join the club of the six seafood processing firms that generate more than ten billion dollars in revenue.

ssociation of Seafood Exporters and Producers informed on Thursday.

Trade, transport and tourism

Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP dated October 11, 2021 on the safe, flexible adaptation, and effective management of the Covid-19 outbreak was issued swiftly, and all levels, sectors, the business community, and the people have actively adopted it. The situation of business and service operations gradually returns to the "new normal." The overall export and import of products continued to expand at a rapid pace; the total import and export turnover of goods was estimated at 59.7 billion USD, up 8.5 percent from previous months and 19.7 percent from the same period last year. International visits to Vietnam climbed by 42.4 percent in November compared to the previous month as our country began executing a pilot route to welcome international tourists.

In November 2021, gross retail sales of consumer goods and services were anticipated to reach 397.1 trillion VND, up 6.2 percent from the previous month but down 12.2 percent from the same period last year. In general, gross retail sales of consumer goods and services totaled 4,128.5 trillion VND over the course of eleven months, a loss of 8.7 percent over the same period last year if the price factor is excluded, and a decrease of 10.4 percent if the price element is excluded (in the same period in 2020 decreased by 3.8 percent ).

Import turnover of products in October 2021 was 26.13 billion USD, 67 million USD less than the projected level. Import turnover in November 2021 was anticipated to be 29.8 billion USD, up 14 percent from the previous month and up 20.8 percent from the same time in 2020. In general, the import turnover was estimated at 299.45 billion USD in 11 months of 2021, an increase of 27.5 percent over the same period in 2020, of which the domestic economic sector reached 103.31 billion USD, an increase of 23.3 percent; and the FDI sector gained 196.14 billion USD, an increase of 29.9 percent. In the first 11 months of 2021, there were 43 imported items with a total value of more than one billion USD, accounting for 92.7 percent of total import turnover.

Some social situations

Support packages for social security and those in difficulties as a result of Covid-19 were still being implemented in November, thus people's lives were mostly steady. According to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, as of November 23, 2021, the support packages under the Government's Resolution No. 68/NQ-CP dated July 1, 2021 and the Prime Minister's Decision No. 23/2021/QD-TTg dated 07/7/2021 had been deployed nationwide, totaling more than 28.4 trillion VND in support for more than 28 million subjects.

The global Covid-19 outbreak continues to be complicated. In Viet Nam, the number of cases in the community has grown in many places because the pathogen already exists in the community, many patients are asymptomatic, the source of infection was unclear, and individuals returning from the epidemic region were the source of infection. Viet Nam has 1,197,404 cases recorded as of 28/11/2021, with 956,924 cases cured (24,692 deaths). There were three provinces that did not have secondary infections within 14 days: Yen Bai, Bac Kan, and Lai Chau.
